Purva Phalguni is one of 27 nakshatras, or lunar mansions, used in Vedic astrology. Its 13°20′ arc of the sidereal zodiac lies entirely in Leo. The birth Moon's mansion is especially relevant to the traditional reading of temperament and mind; other planets can also occupy this arc.
Its four padas, meaning quarters, each measure 3°20′. They map to Leo, Virgo, Libra and Scorpio in order in the navāṁśa, the ninth-part divisional chart called D9. These correspondences follow the standard cycle of 108 divisions. Sharing Purva Phalguni does not necessarily mean sharing a quarter or D9 sign.
The Venus period is a calculation
A Purva Phalguni Moon opens the 120-year Vimśottarī daśā, or planetary-period cycle, in Venus's mahādaśā, the major period. The full Venus period is twenty years.
