For that rule, locate Mars and count its position. Calling Mars “well-placed” is too vague, and the Moon’s own angular placement is a different fact. Cancellation modifies the dignity assessment while the Moon remains in Scorpio; phase, aspects and other strengths still need attention.

What makes depth useful in reflection

In the broad classical classification, a waxing Moon in śukla pakṣa, the bright fortnight, is benefic or supportive; a waning Moon is comparatively malefic, or more challenging. This phase-dependent classification is particular to the Moon. Full dig bala, or directional strength, belongs to the 4th house, the nadir or northern angle (BPHS Chapter 27).

A fuller reading needs the Moon's house, aspects, Mars's condition and the Moon's daśā, or planetary period. For reflection, distinguish sustained inquiry from repeatedly revisiting an old interpretation. What new detail would make you reconsider? That question distinguishes careful attention from returning to the same conclusion simply because it is familiar.
