What does Sun in Scorpio actually mean?

Why is Sun in Scorpio associated with intensity? Scorpio is Mars-ruled fixed water, traditionally concerned with depth, what is hidden and what people leave unsaid. When the Sun occupies it, those themes colour purpose and authority.

A useful everyday illustration is taking responsibility for understanding a problem before discussing it publicly. The question is whether privacy supports careful investigation or makes it hard to let other people test your conclusions.

Depth can serve a purpose

The Sun signifies ātma (the soul), vitality, authority, the father, dignity and purpose. Scorpio's manner is concentrated and inward: research, sustained attention in a crisis and change through bringing hidden matters into view.

The strength in the sign portrait is depth held privately. Its caution is holding a grievance with the same persistence. In reflection, distinguish staying with a difficult question from repeatedly returning to an old slight.

“Transformation” here can mean revising an understanding after discovering something overlooked. For example, learning why someone withheld a detail might change your view of an argument you thought you understood.

Mars is friendly; Scorpio is not exaltation

For this combination, a concrete reflection is to ask what evidence would change a conclusion you have reached privately.
