Sun in Libra, in one paragraph
Sun carries its kāraka (signification) portfolio — ātma (the soul), vitality, authority, the father, and one's sense of dignity and purpose — into Libra, an air sign whose grain runs toward balance, partnership, and a search for fairness and harmony. Sun's dignity in Libra, precisely
Sun is debilitated in Libra — precisely, 10° of Libra is Sun's deep-debilitation point (BPHS Ch. 3), exactly opposite Sun's exaltation at 10° of Aries. The tradition treats Sun-in-Libra as asking for conscious effort, never as a sentence: neecha-bhaṅga (cancellation) rules regularly overturn it — Venus well-placed, or Sun in a kendra from the Moon, are textbook examples. Whether a cancellation holds for your Sun is a fact of your chart, not of Libra in general.
Sun's nature, and where direction helps it
Classically the Sun is counted a natural malefic (a hot, kingly graha) — read for the strength, visibility, and heat it brings, not automatic ease. And one layer no Libra page can settle: dig bala (BPHS Ch. 27) gives Sun full directional strength in the 10th house — the midheaven, the southern angle — so the same Sun-in-Libra reads differently by the house it lands in, a fact of birth time, not of Libra.

Read Sun in Libra as classical tendency with checkable parts — the dignity and its degrees, Venus's hosting, dig bala — never as a verdict about you. What settles it: the house Sun occupies in your chart, the aspects reaching it, how Venus itself is placed, and whether a Sun daśā (planetary period) is even running. - The texts count Sun-in-Libra a challenged dignity — then immediately qualify it with neecha-bhaṅga (cancellation) rules that depend on the chart. Many charts carrying a debilitated Sun also carry a textbook cancellation. So: not "bad" — unresolved until your Sun is actually cast.
- I have Sun in Libra but don't relate to this — why?
- Because a Libra placement is one layer of many around Sun. The house your Sun occupies, the aspects reaching it, Venus's condition as Libra's dispositor, and whether any Sun daśā has yet run in your life all shape the lived result. A Libra-in-general page sees none of those — your chart does.
- Should I worry about a debilitated Sun?
- Worry is the one response the classical method never asks of you about Sun. Debilitation in Libra describes friction, and the texts that define it also define its cancellations (neecha-bhaṅga).
